HEDIS® for Ohio
The Quality Improvement (QI) Program is the process that links knowledge, structure, and processes together to assess and improve the quality of care provided by Molina Healthcare of Ohio (MHO). Molina's QI program is designed to monitor and evaluate the quality, appropriateness, and outcomes of care and service provided to Molina members.
MHO uses the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) project each year as one method for evaluating the quality and appropriateness of outcomes of care and service. HEDIS®, developed and maintained by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), allows for consistent assessment of specific aspects of clinical and non-clinical performance and provides a basis for initiatives to improve care and service.
Overall, MHO improved on 42 of 50 (84%) selected HEDIS® measures from 2008 to 2010, with an average improvement of 7.0% (percentage points). MHO met or exceeded the 75th percentile national Medicaid HMO score for 8 measures.
