Medicaid provides for medically necessary health services to eligible recipients in nursing facilities. Prior approval is required.

PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a partially-capitated community-based services program. It is designed to ensure access to a comprehensive benefit package of services to a frail population in lieu of placement in a nursing facility.

Prior approval requirements for PACE mirror the requirements for nursing facility placement with the exception of the requirement for a PASRR Level I screen. Recipients must meet the criteria for nursing facility placement. Please see Nursing Facility for further details.
