Teens Have Feelings Too

Why should teens worry about their feelings?

Being a teenager can be hard. Teens are going through many changes in their lives. They want to fit in with friends. Their parents want them to do well in school. They want to have money to do things.

Teens need to learn how to handle the stress of home, friends, and school. There are times when teens will need some extra help from a person trained to deal with feelings.

Teens who may have bad feelings about themselves or who might be having problems at home are at risk for drugs or alcohol. The may get depressed or eat too much or too little.

The following may be signs that teens may have a problem and may need help:
  • They get angry a lot and can't sit still
  • They lose weight or gain weight
  • Their grades drop in school
  • They are always sad
  • They seem to not care about people or things
  • They are not motivated
  • They are tired a lot, and are not interested in doing things
  • They have bad feelings about themselves
  • They have trouble falling asleep

If your teen has any of these signs, get some help. Call your doctor or a behavioral health provider.
