Teens and Tobacco

Did you know...

  • Teens who use tobacco may cough and have asthma more often and have more sick days and have trouble doing well in sports?
  • Teens who use tobacco are more likely to use alcohol and drugs such as cocaine and marijuana.
  • Teens find it VERY hard to quit using tobacco.
  • Chew and cigars are also called tobacco and are not safe to use either.
  • Tobacco causes heart disease, cancer and stroke.
  • Smoking during pregnancy can cause the baby to be born too early and weigh less than normal.

Parents can help. Talk to your teen about tobacco and ways to SAY NO to tobacco if a friend gives it to them. If parents use tobacco, think about quitting too because you can make a difference in your teens life.
