Eating Tips for a Healthier You
If you’ve ever tried to lose
weight and keep it off, you’re
not alone. Reaching and keeping
a healthy weight isn’t easy. But
it can be done.
The best way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories than your body uses. Be sure to make exercise part of your daily routine, and follow these tips:
- Slowly start to eat less food. If you usually order a large sub sandwich, next time choose a smaller one. You will take in fewer calories.
- Eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products. Include lean meat, fish, and nuts.
- Watch portion sizes. On average, a fast-food serving is 5 times larger than it was 20 years ago. Learn what a true portion looks like.
- Focus on and enjoy your food. People often overeat when they’re focusing on something else, such as watching TV or driving.
- Avoid sweetened drinks that offer only empty calories. Replace regular soda with water, skim milk, or diet soda.
