What Happens During a
Well-Child Exam?

The Utah Medicaid program is focused on well-child care. Well-child visits are an important time to review a child’s total health. Well-child visits should include the things listed below:
  • Measurement of height, weight, head size (for certain ages), vital signs
  • Tests for vision and hearing
  • Testing for proper growth and learning
  • Physical exam
  • Counseling for parents and/or child
  • Lab testing (for low iron, sickle cell problems, blood diseases like PKU, and lung diseases)
  • Review of shot records (immunizations), with shots given if needed

A well-child visit and exam are the perfect chance for you, your child, and your doctor to get to know each other better. To learn more about Molina Healthcare of Utah’s Preventive Care Guidelines, please visit our website at http://www.molinahealthcare.com.

Attention parents! Starting in the 2006–2007 school year, in order to attend the 7th grade your student must have proof of these immunizations: 3 Hepatitis B, 1 Tetanus/Diphtheria (Td) booster, and 1 Varicella. Call your provider to get your child up-to-date on their shots. Or call Molina at 1-888-483-0760 and ask for Immunizations.
