SCI (State Coverage Insurance)
Effective July 1, 2005, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico (MHNM) began offering the State Coverage Insurance program (SCI). SCI is a Medicaid program that offers insurance to low-income working adults, ages 19 through 64.
MHNM will continue to administer behavioral health services for this program.
To assure our valued providers receive the tools necessary to provide services for MHNM SCI members, we have developed a separate Provider Manual, prior authorization matrix, and web page

PRIOR AUTHORIZATION UPDATE - MHNM Salud:
Note: These changes are for MHNM Salud ONLY. The SCI product has a separate prior authorization matrix.
Effective September 1, 2005 - The prior authorization matrix was updated to reflect the following changes:
- In-plan podiatry office procedures no longer require prior authorization;
- Behavioral Health services (please refer to Value Options);
- Ambulance services has been taken off the matrix (please contact Integrated Transportation Management (ITM);
- Sterilization procedures no longer require prior authorization however, consent forms must be submitted with claims;
- OB ultrasounds require prior authorization.
The updated prior authorization matrix was mailed to all contracted practitioners/providers on July 22, 2005.
