Molina Honors Volunteerism of Three Unsung Heroes at Its 8th Annual Community Champions Awards in Dallas

07/03/2017

Molina Healthcare of Texas recently honored three local heroes for their genuine passion and extraordinary service at its 8th annual Community Champions Awards in Dallas. The event featured a dinner, entertainment and award ceremony, where each winner received a trophy and a $1,000 grant to donate to a nonprofit of his or her choice.

This year’s Community Champions are as follows:

  • Lieutenant Patsy Dotsy, a selfless woman who is passionate about the parks in Dallas as well as the communities that surround them. As a Dallas Peace Officer, she participates in activities such as a Mother’s Day Luncheon for senior mothers and feeding families during Thanksgiving.
  • Terry Bax, a dedicated advocate for those affected by HIV/AIDS in Texas. Mr. Bax leads a team of community volunteers as well as members of his family to fundraise for the cause.
  • Jessica Suarez, a professional parent educator and supervisor who provides life skills training and mentoring to families who live in traditionally marginalized communities. She helps those who have high incidences of family violence and removal of children from their home by Child Protective services.

The Community Champions Awards was established in memory of Molina Healthcare’s founder, Dr. C. David Molina. Since the program was first introduced in California in 2006, it has recognized countless every day heroes across the nation who work tirelessly to make the world a better place to live in.
