Molina Delivers Gently Used Office Furniture to Shields for Families Nonprofit in Long Beach

Molina Healthcare of California recently donated and delivered gently used office furniture – over 60 chairs, desks, tables and bookshelves to Shields for Families to help support the nonprofit's work providing mental health services in schools and in the community. Shields for Families is dedicated to developing and delivering culturally sensitive, comprehensive service models that empower and advocate for high-risk families in South Los Angeles.

"Thanks to this donation from Molina Healthcare, we can use the money that we would have had to spend on furniture for more programming, for more staff and for more supplies to help support the work we do," said Veronica Clanton-Higgins, training department manager for Shields for Families.

Molina Healthcare volunteers used the company's Volunteer Time Off benefit, which pays employees for time spent volunteering in the community, to help the facilities team deliver and unload the furniture so that it can be used in Shields for Families facilities.

"It is wonderful to be able to donate this furniture to an agency that needs it and is so committed to serving our community," said Ruthy Argumedo, associate vice president of community outreach for Molina Healthcare. "The work Shields for Families does fits perfectly with Molina's mission to provide those in need with not only high-quality health care, but with resources that would be difficult or impossible to obtain otherwise."
