Molina Healthcare Offers Medicaid Members in Washington 90 Days of Amazon Prime

02/18/2019

Molina Healthcare of Washington has recently launched a program that will provide all adult Apple Health (Medicaid) members in Washington, for a limited time, the value-added benefit of a three-month Amazon Prime membership. To learn more, Molina’s Medicaid members can visit MolinaHealthcare.com/Amazon.

“At Molina, we know that health is much more than just the provision of traditional health care. Health also involves eliminating, or reducing, transportation and cost-barriers to healthy food, education, housing, and sustainable employment (among other things),” said Peter Adler, president of Molina Healthcare of Washington, Inc. “Molina is uniquely addressing some of these ‘social determinants of health’ that impact our members’ health every day. This value-added benefit allows us to encourage healthier lifestyle choices by reducing access and transportation barriers to healthy food and health-related products.”

“Molina will reduce the detrimental effects of ‘food deserts’ for its members by giving them access to Prime's free shipping and home delivery on everyday essentials, healthy food items, and other health-related products that Molina’s members might otherwise not have easy transportation access to, or be able to afford,” said Frances Gough, MD, chief medical officer for Molina Healthcare of Washington.

This first-time outreach from a Medicaid Managed Care Plan includes 90 days of Amazon Prime for all adult Molina Apple Health members courtesy of Molina, available now. Additionally, it will include the following value-added benefits, which will become available over the next six months:

  • A new and improved health rewards system for Molina Apple Health members, a part of which Molina will reward members with Amazon gift cards for completing selected preventative health activities (will include, but not limited to prenatal visits, diabetic eye exams, etc.).
  • An exclusive digital experience for Molina Apple Health members, designed to encourage and educate them to make healthier choices when purchasing food and health-related items from Amazon.com.
