Molina Hosts Back-to-School Girls Empowerment Experience in Beaumont

Molina Healthcare of Texas recently collaborated with GirlsHaven of Beaumont to provide 22 foster girls with a Back-to-School EmpowermentExperience to start the new school year.

Many of the girls suffered from self-esteem issues inrelation to their appearance including damaged, matted hair that had been shavedoff or cut when arriving to their shelter. These girls received extensions andbraiding, while the others got haircuts and blowouts from the JCPenney salon.

All the girls got their nails done, then headed to Sephorafor light makeup tips. Molina gave away personalized bags to each girl with journals,pencil bags, and gift boxes containing toiletries, hair products, makeup, and aGirls Haven t-shirt.

“This is a unique experience – they couldn’t wait for it tocome. Some of these girls have never been to the hair salon,” said Clay Thomas,Girls Haven executive director. “The girls have never been so excited! Thank youfor putting a smile on their faces,” said Amber Clark, Girls Haven programdirector. “I love my hair. I am so happy. Thank you for making me feelbeautiful again,” one of the foster girls added.
