Molina Healthcare of Ohio recently offered a free community baby shower to expectant mothers, as well as mothers with young children at the Dakota Center in Dayton. About 175 moms, grandmothers and children attended the event. Moms learned about WIC, resources for immunizations, child care, diabetes, vision, fire safety, provider resources, federally qualified health centers, smoking cessation and received blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. The Dakota Center’s mission is to provide a safe community atmosphere engaging Dayton neighborhoods and people of all ages in programs that educate the whole person.

“Helping new moms improve maternal health by increasing awareness about the importance of prenatal and postnatal care is aligned with Molina’s mission of providing quality care to those in need ,” shared TaKeysha Cheney, director of community engagement for Molina Healthcare of Ohio. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the Dakota Center and host this baby shower for new and expecting parents who may otherwise not have one.”

Women in attendance played baby shower games to win prizes including a Pack and Play, baby toys, baby bath tubs and supplies. Attendees also received free diapers provided by Molina and enjoyed a complimentary lunch and making connections with other families in their community.
