Molina Healthcare of Illinois Employees Lend a Helping Hand for National Volunteer Month

04/25/2018

To celebrate National Volunteer Month, Molina Healthcare’s employee volunteers teamed up with the East Side Health District to support its F.R.E.S.H. Community Teaching Garden. The garden’s mission is to create a sustainable, health and readily available community food source to promote wellness and nutrition throughout the community. Through the work of the garden, fresh produce is sold at the F.R.E.S.H. Farmers Market during the summer months and families who participate in the WIC program can use vouchers to purchase the fresh fruits and vegetables. The East Side Health District also offers cooking classes, shares healthy recipes and teaches local residents how to garden through this program.

In April, Molina volunteers donated 50 bags of soil and installed a permanent garden shed in order to help maintain the garden and its efforts to build a healthier community.
