06/20/2018

Molina Healthcare of Texas recently donated $10,000 to Mercy Ministries of Laredo. Molina is also providing funds and supplies to open a community store in the clinic where clients will have access to free toiletries and everyday necessities. Representative Richard Raymond, who is a supporter of Mercy Ministries, was in attendance at the donation and presented Molina’s oversized check.

Mercy Clinic provides integrated behavioral health care with primary care to people in need. The clinic is the only faith-based medical provider in the region. Mercy also features a Mobile Medical Clinic that delivers health care directly to local neighborhoods in need. Mercy’s doctors focus on prevention and control of chronic illness through education and patient compliance. Patients are coached to become advocates of their own health.

Laredo has the second highest poverty rate in the nation and about 37 percent of adults in Laredo do not have any health insurance. Ninety-nine percent of Mercy’s patients are uninsured and fall below federal poverty guidelines. Mercy does not receive any direct funding from the federal or state government and relies on the generosity of the community and invaluable corporate citizens like Molina Healthcare. Molina is proud to support an organization that shares its mission of providing quality health services to low-income families and individuals.
