In an effort to educate children about the importance of healthy eating habits, Molina Healthcare and Meijer recently hosted a free cooking class called “Dr. Cleo’s Cooking Club” at the Detroit Meijer. Twenty-five third graders from Gardner Elementary School participated in the class and learned how to create a healthy meal. In addition, they learned about nutrition, kitchen and food safety, reading recipes and how to properly wash fruits and vegetables.

Upon completion of the class, each student received a certificate naming them a Junior Chef, along with an apron, cook book, measuring cups, measuring spoons, cutting boards and a healthy recipe card to encourage continued practice at home. The children also received special a visit from Molina’s popular cat doctor mascot, Dr. Cleo.
