09/22/2016

Molina Healthcare of Utah recently hosted its fourth annual “Shoes for School” program at two elementary schools in an effort to prepare children in need for the new school year. Molina partnered with local organizations to provide a variety of giveaways and resources including shoes, backpacks, school supplies, books, immunizations, healthy snacks, resource information, entertainment and more.

The first event took place on August 17th at Franklin Elementary School in Provo, where approximately 83 percent of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. More than 350 students received shoes, backpacks and some of the other essentials needed for the school year. The second event was on August 20th at Stansbury Elementary School in West Valley City, where 94 percent of students qualify for free or reduced lunches. Molina staff provided 850 students at the school with the necessities needed for the upcoming year. All of the students who attended both events were also offered free health screenings and immunizations.

At both events, Molina employees participated through the company’s volunteer program Helping Hands and were a large part of making this year’s Shoes for School events a success.
