Molina Healthcare of Texas Provides Nursing Home Residents with an Animal Adventure

Molina Healthcare of Texas recently treated the retired nuns that reside at McCullough Hall to an educational animal show called Animal Adventure. The program featured a lemur, coatimundi, porcupine, prairie dogs and a gecko. Sisters had an opportunity to pet the animals. With nursing facility residents it is hard to be able to take everyone on an outing to the zoo with challenges of transportation, wheelchairs and the summer heat so Molina brought the zoo to the residents.

McCullough Hall is a church owned nonprofit facility that serves as a special home for retired nuns who gave so much in their lives to the community.

"It was wonderful to see the nursing facility residents light up when they got to interact with these unique animals," said Sheila Shelton, director of community engagement for Molina Healthcare of Texas. "Many nursing facility residents can feel isolated, so Molina tries to bring fun and interactive activities to them to keep them connected to the community."
