Important change coming to Healthy Michigan Plan

Some people on the Healthy Michigan Plan may have a change to their health plan coverage next year. If you would like to keep your current Healthy Michigan Plan coverage and have not picked a healthy behavior to work on as part of your Health Risk Assessment (HRA), please call Molina Healthcare of Michigan’s Member Services team at (888) 898-7969, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What is the change?

Starting in April 2018, some Healthy Michigan Plan members will have to get their health care coverage through a MI Marketplace Option health plan.

Who does this change affect?

This change affects members who:

  • Have been enrolled in a Healthy Michigan Plan health plan for one year,
  • Have not picked a healthy behavior as part of a Health Risk Assessment (HRA),
  • Are age 21 or older,
  • Have household income over 100% of the Federal Poverty Level, AND
  • Do not have a serious health condition which would make them medically exempt (Being medically exempt means you have a serious or complex health condition, need help with some of your daily activities, or meet other criteria. Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will send more information on the medical exemption process at a later time.).

What is different about a MI Marketplace Option health plan?

Members getting services through these MI Marketplace Option health plans may have fewer services available and these health plans do not cover dental or vision care. The drugs that are covered by these plans may be different. The doctors and hospitals that work with each plan may also be different.

What will happen next?

MDHHS will send letters to members who have to enroll in a MI Marketplace Option health plan, starting in February 2018. These letters will explain more about this change and tell members how they will enroll in these new plans. Members who have to enroll in an MI Marketplace Option health plan will do this through MI Enrolls, starting in April 2018.
