Molina Healthcare of Ohio Recognizes Local Heroes at 8th Annual Community Champions Awards

Molina Healthcare of Ohio recently celebrated the good deeds of six local residents at its 8th annual Community Champions Awards. The event, which was held at the Mayerson Jewish Community Center in Cincinnati, included dinner, entertainment and an awards ceremony, in which each winner received a trophy and $1,000 grant to donate to a deserving nonprofit of his/her choice.

This year’s 2016 Community Champions and their grant recipients were:

  • Abdourahmane (Abda) Tall – The Healthcare Connection, Inc.
  • Ebony Howard – Kindway
  • Karl Miller – CAIN Churches Active
  • Dewayne Eslick – Dakota Center
  • Mary Butler – The Center for Disability Empowerment
  • Larry Groves – BLOC Cafe

Additionally, the event featured remarks from the City Manager of the City of Cincinnati, Harry Black. Molina also presented State Senator Charleta Tavares with special recognition for the continuous work she does to fight health care disparities across Ohio.

The Community Champions program honors the vision of Dr. C. David Molina, Molina Healthcare’s founder, by celebrating the idea of communities working together to provide support and services to those who need it most. The program spotlights individuals who go above and beyond helping others in their local community.
