Molina Healthcare of Michigan hosted its biggest HOPE coat giveaway of the season at East English Preparatory Academy in Detroit where 3,969 new coats were given to local families and individuals. In additional to the coats, event partners also distributed thousands of new hats, gloves, and scarves to both preregistered attendees and the public. The Detroit event is the third and largest Molina HOPE giveaway of the season; over 16,000 new coats have been distributed through the initiative since it launched in 2016.

“Our mission with the Molina HOPE Coat Drive is to support our communities through the cold Michigan winters, and help with their health initiatives,” said Rebecca Kuchar, director of community engagement, Molina Healthcare of Michigan. “This is a tremendous collaborative effort from Molina Healthcare, our employees, generous event partners, and volunteers.”

With 350 employee volunteers supporting the Molina HOPE Coat event on Saturday, over 4,500 people attended, and 3,750 meals were served by the Salvation Army. In addition to coats, winter accessories and meals, event partners offered needed resources and services including free haircuts, diabetes screenings, and more. Over the past few weeks, over 6,000 new coats were given away through this program.
