Close Gaps in Developmental Screening (DEVCH) for Children Ages 1–3
10/22/2025
Molina is committed to working with our providers to improve the health outcomes of our members. Timely developmental screenings are critical to identifying delays early and ensuring children receive the support they need. What Is DEVCH?
The DEVCH measure tracks the percentage of children screened for risk of developmental, behavioral, and social delays using a standardized screening tool in12 months preceding or on their first, second or third birthday. Members between the ages of 1-3 in the measurement year. There are three age stratifications reported:
• Children who turned 1 during the measurement year
• Children who turned 2 during the measurement year
• Children who turned 3 during the measurement year.
How to Close Gaps?
Please ensure the following during well-child visits:
Use a standardized global screening tool (e.g., ASQ, PEDS)
• Document:
o Tool name
o Date of screening
o Score/result
o Clinical interpretation
o Recommendations or follow-up
• Submit CPT Code 96110 only for global screenings
o Use appropriate ICD-10 codes:
o Z13.42 – Screening for global developmental delays
o Z00.129 – Routine child health exam without abnormal findings
Important: Claims using 96110 for domain-specific tools (e.g., M-CHAT, ASQ:SE) do not count toward DEVCH and should be excluded.
Why It Matters?
Closing these gaps improves early intervention outcomes and supports our shared goal of delivering high-quality, preventive care to our youngest members.
