Transportation Services

Woman buckling baby into a car seat

As a Molina Healthcare member, you get an extra transportation benefit of 30 one-way trips every calendar year. Use the trips to get to your doctor visits and other health resources.

Your extra benefit includes:

  • 30 extra one-way rides to:
    • The doctor
    • The dentist
    • The eye doctor
    • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) appointments
    • The pharmacy
    • The food pantry
    • The grocery store
  • A round trip is when you need a ride to and from the doctor. If you need a round trip, you will use 2 one-way rides.
  • Unlimited rides after your hospital stay or after you leave the Emergency Room.
  • Unlimited rides if you must go 30+ miles away to see a doctor.
  • Unlimited rides to well-visits for your baby and other medical services for children up to one year of age.
  • Unlimited rides to your OB/GYN while pregnant and for after-birth checkups.
  • A mobile app for setting up rides and trip reminders.

You get options like:

  • Door-to-door service when needed. Your driver will walk you from your door to the car and to your provider’s office.
  • Rideshare services like Lyft or Uber.
  • Taxis or van services.
  • Bus passes.
  • Gas money based on how far the drive is to your appointment. This is called mileage reimbursement.
    • You can drive yourself if you do not have a medical condition that keeps you from driving.
    • You may also get gas money if someone else can give you a ride.
  • Transportation set up by your provider.

When can I use this benefit?

You can use this benefit to get to and from:

  • Scheduled visits for health services you need. This includes the doctor, dentist, behavioral health, and non-emergency hospital visits.
  • WIC appointments.
  • Appointments with County Department of Job and Family Services (CDJFS), like Medicaid renewal.
  • Your local pharmacy, food bank, or grocery pick-up.

How do I schedule transportation?

Call 866-642-9279 (TTY 711) at least 48 hours before your visit. You can call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can schedule a ride up to 30 days before your visit.

When you call us, we will help you find the best option for your trip. Tell us if you need extra help, like help walking to and from the car.

If you need to stop at the pharmacy, tell us when you set up your trip. You can stop at the pharmacy after a doctor’s visit. If you will go to the pharmacy after a doctor’s visit, ask your doctor to call the pharmacy so your medicine is ready when you get there.

Do I need to be 18 to schedule transportation?

You can schedule transportation if you are:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Looking for family planning (birth control) or pregnancy related services, no matter your age.
  • Under the age of 18 and are a parent scheduling care for your child.
  • A member’s parent, legal guardian, or authorized representative (a person who can legally help you get care).
  • An emancipated minor (legally independent from your parent or guardian).

If I need a ride today, how can I schedule transportation?

If you are sick and need a same-day visit to your doctor or urgent care, we will do our best to schedule a ride for you. We will also try to schedule a same-day ride if you need a ride home from your hospital stay.

Call 866-642-9279 (TTY 711) as soon as possible.

If I can't get a ride today, how can I still get care fast?

Molina offers 24/7 virtual care with Teladoc®. Adult Molina members get virtual care from doctors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Get care by phone, video, or the Teladoc® app from wherever you are.

Doctors can treat non-emergency conditions like sore throats, flu & cold symptoms, respiratory infections, and more.

Visit Teladoc.com/MolinaOH, download the Teladoc app, or call Teladoc at 1-800-Teladoc (1-800-835-2362) to get started.

Can I schedule transportation with a phone app?

You can schedule and see your trips with the Access2Care phone app. You can download the app by searching “A2C” on the iPhone App Store or Google Play for Android.

With the app, you can:

  • Get text reminders and alerts on trip status.
  • See your vehicle location in real time.
  • Schedule, change, or cancel trips.
  • Save locations like your home or doctor’s office.
  • Call your provider or the transportation scheduling line.

Can I get a ride to my child's doctor visits?

If your child is a Molina Healthcare member, you can get a ride to visits with your child’s provider. You can do this even if your child will not be at the visit. Just let us know when you call.

If your child is under one year of age, you get unlimited trips to well-visits and other medical services for your child. If you need a car seat, bring one for each child who needs one.

The driver will not have a car seat.

Can I bring someone with me for my trip?

Yes. You can bring one person with you.

If you need to bring children with you, tell us when you call. We will do our best to meet your needs.

Can I get rides in addition to my extra benefit of 30 one-way trips?

Yes, in some cases. Molina Medicaid members get unlimited rides for the reasons below. These rides will be covered without using your extra benefit of 30 one-way trips.

  • If you must travel 30 miles or more to get covered services. If a provider within 30 miles cannot be found, we will cover trips to and from the provider’s office.
  • If you use a wheelchair.
  • If you have a visit for dialysis, chemotherapy, or radiation.
  • If you leave the hospital from an emergency room, inpatient, or outpatient visit.
  • If you have a well-visit or other medical visit for a child under one year old.
  • If you visit your OB/GYN while pregnant or for after-birth checkups. This includes visits for staple removal after a C-section.

To ask about unlimited rides, call 866-642-9279 (TTY 711) at least 48 hours before your visit.

You can also get help with rides for some services through the local CDJFS Non-Emergency Transportation (NET) program. Call your local CDJFS office for help.

How do I cancel a scheduled ride?

If you need to cancel a scheduled ride, call us at least 24 hours before your trip.

If you don’t cancel 24 hours before your scheduled ride, you may lose one of your 30 one-way trips for the year. You may also lose a trip if the driver arrives and you do not come to the car.

What should I do if I have a problem with my transportation services?

If you have a complaint about ride services, call Molina Healthcare Member Services. Call 800-642-4168 (TTY 711) from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.

Is emergency transportation (like ambulance services) covered?

When you call “911” for an emergency, your ride is covered when it’s medically necessary. This includes emergency ambulance rides.

An emergency is a medical problem you think is so serious you need help from a doctor right away.
