Keep your benefits. Renew on time.

Molina Healthcare: Got Medicaid? Get ready to renew! Click Manage My Case at abe.illinois.gov.

You have not had to renew your Medicaid since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Medicaid pays for your healthcare, like doctor visits, prescription medicine, and urgent emergency services. Now Illinois is starting renewals again to see if you are still eligible. Everybody’s renewal date is different, so it is critical that you get ready to renew.

As your health plan, we want to make sure you’re able to keep getting the care you need, when and where you need it. So, we try to make it easy for you by telling you what you need to know, what you need to do, and what you can expect.

When to renew

Illinois is checking to see if you are still eligible for Medicaid. Here’s what you need to do now:

Click Manage My Case at abe.illinois.gov to:

  1. Verify your mailing address under “Contact Us.” or call (800) 843-6154,
  2. Find your due date (the “redetermination” date) in your "Benefit Details."

To make it easier when you renew, you should have the following ready:

  • Social Security numbers for all members of your household
  • Birthdates for all members of your household

Watch your mail and complete your renewal right away.

If you are no longer eligible for Medicaid, connect to coverage at work or through the official Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace for Illinois, GetCoveredIllinois.gov.

Call (800) 843-6154 for help with your renewal.

When your renewal date is near, you should get a renewal letter by mail from the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services. Be sure to open the packet and read the instructions.

Complete the form, follow the instructions and return any requested information as soon as possible.

Molina Healthcare will send you reminders, too, so you won’t miss a deadline.

Information you may need

To make it easier when you renew, you should have the following ready:

Commonly asked questions and their answers

Q. What happens if I miss my renewal date?

Please submit your renewal, even if you are late.

After you miss your renewal date, the state will send you a letter telling you the date you will lose your Medicaid coverage. However, there is a chance that you can still renew if you submit your renewal within 90 days of that date. The state will review your case on an individual basis.

If you are reinstated, your Medicaid coverage will be retroactive back to your original renewal due date. That means the healthcare costs you had between your original due date and when we reinstated your coverage will be covered.

If you are more than 90 days late, you are required to reapply completely with a new application.

Q. What happens if I’m no longer eligible for Medicaid?

A. If you are no longer eligible for Medicaid, connect to coverage at work or through the official Affordable Care Act marketplace for Illinois, GetCoveredIllinois.gov.

Q. What if I didn’t receive an official letter or renewal form?

A. You will not receive an official letter or renewal form until 30 days before your renewal date. Have you moved or changed your phone number? Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services may not have your current contact information. You can still create a Manage My Case Account in www.abe.illinois.gov to complete your redetermination process.

Q. What if I need a ride to the State renewal agency office?

A. As a Molina member, you may use your transportation benefit to schedule a ride to your local DHS office. Call (844) 644-6354 at least 3 days in advance.
