Private Duty Nursing
Medicaid provides for medically necessary private duty nursing care to eligible recipients under age 21. This program was developed for children with several significant medical problems that require skilled nursing services beyond the interim home health benefit. The recipient can still receive other home health services such as therapies. The goal is to avoid institutionalization and to maintain or improve the recipients' function level in a home setting. Requests for private duty nursing services are submitted on an EPSDT PDN budget form.
