Frequently Asked Questions

What is Healthy Connections Prime?
It's a program to provide better, coordinated health care for people with both Medicare and Medicaid, often called dual eligible or duals. Plans that participate in Healthy Connections Prime are called Medicare-Medicaid Plans.

Why join a Medicare-Medicaid Plan?
By combining the two, you get Medicare and Healthy Connections Medicaid services plus prescription drugs in one plan. To make it even easier, a care coordinator and care team works with you to ensure you get all the services you need.

Why join Molina Dual Options?

This means you create your care team. Doctors, nurses, a care coordinator and other health professionals will be ready to provide the care you need, all under one plan. And that means one Member ID for both Medicare and Healthy Connections Medicaid benefits. You don't pay extra to join.

What benefits and services will be available?
A plan like Molina Dual Options combines and coordinates all your Medicare and Healthy Connections Medicaid benefits in one single health plan.

Can I keep my current doctor and other care providers?
We know it's important to you to keep receiving care without interruption. That's why we work with you and your doctors to make sure you get what you need. For a period of time you may continue seeing physicians or receiving services that were authorized before you join Molina Dual Options, to give Molina the chance to contract with your provider. This time period is determined by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) or your state. Meanwhile, you must still call Member Services

After the time period you must get all your covered services from providers who work with Molina Dual Options. These are "in-network" providers. Your doctor must agree to work with Molina Dual Options.

How will Enrollment work?
Voluntary enrollment will begin February 2015 for Region 1 (Upstate), Region 2 (Coastal), and Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Enrollees. Beginning in June 2015, enrollment will occur through a "passive enrollment" process for Region 1, August 2015 for Region 2, and October 2015 for HCBS Enrollees.

"Passive Enrollment" means, if you do not make a choice, and you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be assigned to a plan. You will receive a packet from the State informing you about the Healthy Connections Prime plan and your plan assignment.
