Molina Healthcare of Nevada Grants $150,000 to Nevada Health Centers to Expand Integrated Behavioral and Physical Health Services Across Nevada

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 14, 2025 – Molina Healthcare of Nevada (“Molina”) presented a $150,000 grant to Nevada Health Centers (“NVHC”) to expand integrated physical health and behavioral health care services across Clark, Washoe, and rural counties in Nevada. The funds help fill vital positions that will support Nevadans with greater access to behavioral health and primary care and additional resources for rural communities.According to the Nevada Rural and Frontier Health Data Book, in rural and frontier Nevada, 100% of the population resides in a federally designated mental health professional shortage area. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, integrating physical and behavioral health care can improve health outcomes, reduce stigma, and streamline the treatment process for patients.
“At Molina, we understand the importance of caring for the whole person, both mind and body,” said Rob Baughman, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Nevada. “We are excited to announce this partnership, which supports the growth of our health care workforce and bridges gaps in access to behavioral health care, with a strong focus on the needs in our rural and frontier communities.”
The grant has made it possible for NVHC to fill vacant licensed clinical social worker positions in Elko, Carson City, and various locations in southern Nevada, as well as hire two additional mar-riage and family therapists. In addition to expanding the behavioral health team, the grant has supported staffing two bilingual team members serving the Las Vegas community and a new primary care provider in Reno, helping to integrate behavioral health care into treatment plans for residents.
“We are grateful to Molina for this partnership and support that has enabled us to expand our commitment to integrated health care across our Nevada communities,” said Walter Davis, CEO of NVHC. “The ability to significantly grow our behavioral health team, hire additional primary care providers, and expand access to services is critical as we work to bridge gaps in access to behavioral health care for the populations we serve.”
NVHC is one of 29 community-based organizations and providers Molina is supporting with $2.8 million in grants and supports to improve access to health care and social services targeting health disparities among under-resourced communities in Clark, Washoe, and rural Nevada counties.
