How Medicaid eligibility works

MI Bridges is the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services’ (MDHHS) Medicaid program. To qualify, you must live in Michigan, be a U.S. citizen or qualified immigrant, have or apply for a Social Security number, and meet income limits. Some people qualify because of age, pregnancy, disability or need for long-term care. Common groups include:

  • Adults age 19 to 64
  • Children and teens
  • Pregnant people
  • Caretakers and relatives
  • People who are 65 or older
  • People with disabilities
