In April 2026, the FDA announced a serious recall for all TRUE METRIX blood sugar meters. This happened because of a software problem. The problem can cause an “E-5” error. This error may mean your blood sugar is very high (over 600 mg/dL) or that there is a problem with the test strip. Because of this, treatment could be delayed or the wrong amount of insulin could be used. Please call your healthcare provider and ask for a different covered meter.
