What’s covered

Your Medicaid plan covers many benefits and services to help you stay healthy. STAR+PLUS is a Texas Medicaid managed care program for people who have disabilities or are age 65 or older. You can choose a STAR+PLUS plan to get health care as well as long-term services and supports. Molina STAR+PLUS choices are available in Bexar, Dallas, El Paso, Harris, Hidalgo, Jefferson, MRSA NE and Tarrant Service Areas.

Doctor visits

You can see your primary care provider (PCP) and specialist doctors for checkups, health screenings, vaccines and treatment if you are sick or have chronic diseases.

Urgent Care

When your PCP is not available, you can go to urgent care for treatment of common thing like:

  • flu
  • earaches
  • sore throats
  • migraines
  • fever
  • rashes
  • minor injuries such as
    • strains
    • back pain
    • cuts
    • burns
    • broken ones
    • eye injuries

Emergency care

You can go to the emergency room (ER) or urgent care at any time for emergencies like:

  • chest pain
  • severe abdominal pain
  • coughing or vomiting blood
  • severe burns, cuts or bleeding
  • difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • sudden dizziness
  • weakness or loss of balance or coordination
  • numbness of the face, arm or leg
  • sudden, severe headache
  • seizures
  • high fevers
  • any other life-threatening condition

Hospital visits

Your plan covers overnight hospital stays and care ordered by your doctor.

Pregnancy care

Medicaid provides health coverage to low-income pregnant women during pregnancy and up to 12 months after postpartum.

  • Regular prenatal and postpartum checkups
  • Prescription drugs, prenatal vitamins and vaccines
  • Hospital care and labor and delivery services
  • X-rays and lab tests
  • Vision and hearing care
  • Access to medical specialists and mental health care
  • Treatment of special health needs and preexisting conditions

Covered services

There is no cost to you for covered services and care such as PCP and specialist visits, medicines, hospital care, ER and urgent care, pregnancy care, mental health, labs, home health, family planning, and vaccines.
