Molina Healthcare Tackles Health Disparities in the Buckeye State

Part of the 2020 Molina Community Innovation Fund of $1.5 Million for Health and Wellness

COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 22, 2020 – Molina Healthcare of Ohio (“Molina”) has partnered with various community organizations to provide needed resources and services in support of optimal health outcomes for its members and Ohioans.

“There are many social factors that affect health equity in our communities, such as affordable housing, food security, and transportation,” said Ami Cole, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Ohio. “Molina is proactively responding to these needs throughout Ohio’s communities with the goal of connecting individuals and families with the resources they need to be healthy and prosper.”

Addressing the unique needs of the diverse communities throughout the state is essential to promoting the health and wellness of all Ohioans. Molina’s partnerships with local organizations are vital to helping effectively serve the needs of communities of all socioeconomic levels, racial backgrounds, and ages.

The Molina Community Innovation Fund supports organizations committed to helping individuals access needed socials supports and healthcare services to stay healthy, including:

  • The National African American Male Wellness Initiative, which raises awareness for preventable diseases by promoting healthy habits such as regular health check-ups in Ohio’s African American community; and
  • LifeCare Alliance, which provides neighborhood-based clinic space that allows Molina’s Nurse Practitioners to provide comprehensive diabetes care and health assessments for Molina members, meal delivery, and supports thousands of seniors and people with medical challenges or disabilities throughout central Ohio with home care.
