MolinaCares Accord Makes $200,000 Commitment for New Mexico Wildfire Relief Efforts

05/12/2022

Albuquerque, N.M., May 12, 2022The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of New Mexico (“Molina”), will donate $200,000 to support wildfire relief efforts in addition to providing shelter, food, water, and medical care to affected residents. Donations will go to the Santa Fe Community Foundation Resiliency Fund, which is providing rapid wildfire relief in San Miguel and Mora counties, and to the All Together New Mexico Fund (ATNM), which has recently been reactivated to coordinate statewide relief. ATNM was first established in 2020 by the New Mexico Coalition of Community Foundations in conjunction with the Governor’s office for COVID-19 response and recovery.

“We are working tirelessly to provide New Mexicans with immediate recovery efforts during this challenging time,” said David Nater, plan president of Molina Healthcare of New Mexico. “In addition to donations, our field teams are actively reaching out to members, providers, employees, and residents to offer needed resources and support.”

Related to the current state of emergency, Molina is taking the following actions for impacted members:

  • Member outreach for wellness checks and the extension of aid;
  • Waiver of prior authorizations for medical services;
  • Coverage for out-of-network services;
  • Provision of a 24/7 nurse advice line at 888-275-8750, TTY 711;
  • Allowing early emergency refills for medications;
  • Coordination of management for accessing care, medical equipment, oxygen and supplies;
  • Waiving cost sharing requirements;
  • Coordinating with members on premium payments; and
  • Ensuring behavioral and mental health service availability.

In addition to water and non-perishable food, Molina is also actively distributing cleaning supplies, baby items, clothing, hygiene products, and pet food. MolinaCares employee volunteers continue to serve meals at designated evacuation centers.

“Our fire season arrived early due to the extreme drought, affecting so many of our residents and communities with evacuation orders and widespread damage,” said Christopher Goett, president and CEO, Santa Fe Community Foundation. “We are thankful for MolinaCares’ swift support in funding relief efforts as fire authorities work to contain the devastation.”

Members and providers affected by the fires can visit Molina’s member and provider portals for support or contact Buffie Saavedra, director of member and community engagement, at 505-269-8904. To donate to the recovery efforts, please visit santafecf.org.
