The MolinaCares Accord Donates Over $120,000 to Ohio’s Church and Community Development for All People (CD4AP)
COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 18, 2021 – The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Ohio, donated $122,500 to Church and Community Development for All People (CD4AP) to support local programs that address issues associated with social determinants of health, including food insecurity, infant mortality, and other health disparities.
“MolinaCares is honored to support programs that provide for Ohioans in need,” said Carolyn Ingram, executive vice president of external affairs at Molina Healthcare. “Through MolinaCares, we can provide necessities for the community – everything from fresh produce and health education to assistance in accessing benefits to improve health outcomes.”
Funding will support programs including:
- All People’s Fresh Market is the largest distributor of fresh produce in the Mid-Ohio Food Bank service area. The organization helps build healthy communities by increasing access to fresh food and engages individuals and families in healthy living activities. The organization distributed 3.5 million pounds of food to over 5,000 residents per week in 2020.
- Thrive to 5 is an initiative that supports families with healthy pregnancies and those with young children. The program connects families to resources like developmental screenings, immunizations, preschool, utility assistance, diapers, and First Birthday Celebrations. Participating families also have access to the Moms2B program, which provides weekly education and support classes for high-risk pregnant women.
- ID’s for All People supports individuals in obtaining needed documents such as Ohio birth certificates or to renew their state ID or driver’s license. Obtaining proper identification helps residents address a primary barrier to accessing federal and state benefits, as well as opportunities and resources impacting education, income, health, home, and security.
“Molina Healthcare of Ohio is proud to support CD4AP for the third year in a row,” said Ami Cole, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Ohio. “This innovative organization gives so much back to families living on the South Side of Columbus and aligns with Molina’s mission of supporting our most vulnerable populations.”
“We are grateful to have Molina as a partner in our work,” said Rev. John Edgar at Church and Community Development for All People. “Thanks to their years of support, we continue to transform the South Side into a sustainable, mixed-income community where all people can live, work and thrive. We look forward to continuing this partnership for many years to come.”
