Pharmacy Services

CMS

Children’s Medical Services (CMS) Plan by Molina Healthcare will cover prescription medications listed on the Florida Agency For Health Care Administration (AHCA) Medicaid Preferred Drug List (PDL) once your child is enrolled. The PDL will include the medicines we prefer your child’s doctor prescribes, and it will reflect the medications covered by the plan.

Your child’s doctor will use the PDL to choose safe, effective treatments. The list will be reviewed regularly by medical and pharmacy experts to help ensure it includes the most appropriate options for your child’s care. If you have questions about a medication, you will talk with your child’s doctor or pharmacist.

To avoid delays at the pharmacy, always ask your child’s doctor whether a prescription is covered by CMS Plan. If it is not covered, ask whether it can be changed to a medication that is on the PDL. This helps ensure your child can get their medicine without interruption.

Dispensing Limits

Medications may be dispensed up to a maximum of 34-day supply for each new prescription refill or 100-day supply for select medications. A total of 80% of the days’ supply must elapse before the prescription can be refilled at a network pharmacy.

Covered Services

We will cover brand name and generic drugs. Generic drugs have the same ingredients as brand name drugs. They work the same. Sometimes, we may need to approve using a brand name drug before your child’s prescription is filled.

13 and Under Requirements:

Some drugs for children 13 and under will require a consent form (PDF).

  • A parent or legal guardian will complete and sign this form
  • The parent or legal guardian should fill out a separate form for each prescribed drug:
    • Medicaid will no longer pay for these drugs without the signed form
    • You and your child's doctor will need to provide a copy of the form to the pharmacy when required
