Non-emergency Transportation

As an extra benefit, we offer 104 one-way trips, or legs, every calendar year. This benefit will get you to and from places where you get covered health care services.

  • Use your extra trips to go to the doctor, dentist, eye exam, grocery store, food bank, and pharmacy.
  • Use trips to go to WIC appointments, SSI, health education visits, and CDJFS (County Department of Jobs and Family Services) appointments.
  • You have options like all-day bus passes, taxi or van services and mileage reimbursement.
  • You can also request rideshare services like Uber or Lyft.

Transportation is always available if you must travel more than 30 miles to get services. These rides are unlimited, but only if there is not a provider closer to your home.

Your rides are always covered (unlimited) when you:

  • Use a wheelchair.
  • Are traveling to or from your annual Medicare wellness visit, community behavioral health, and prenatal or postpartum services.
  • Are being discharged from the hospital.
  • Are traveling to or from dialysis, chemotherapy, or radiation visits.
  • Are traveling to or from a network pharmacy following a medical visit.
  • Are traveling to or from a Member Advisory Council (Bridge2Access) meeting with our plan.

Emergency Medical Transportation

Emergency transportation (ambulance) from the 911 emergency response system is covered when medically needed. An emergency is a medical problem so serious a provider must treat you right away.

How Do Members Get Care?

Call (844) 491-4761 (TTY 711) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to schedule a ride or if you have questions. Call at least 48 hours before your appointment.

You can get rides to some services through the local County Department of Job and Family Services Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) program. Transportation help is limited to less than 104 miles away. Call your County Department of Job and Family Services for questions or help.

How Can I Cancel a Scheduled Ride?

If you need to cancel a scheduled ride, call (844) 491-4761 (TTY 711) to let us know 24 hours before your visit. If you do not call to cancel 24 hours ahead of time, the ride may count as one of your 104 trips for the year.
