Waiver Services

MyCare Ohio Waiver services can help you live independently. The State of Ohio will tell you if you can get a Waiver.

For more information about the MyCare Ohio Waiver see the Home and Community-Based Services Waiver Member Handbook.

About Waiver Services
If you are receiving waiver services, you are automatically enrolled in the MyCare Ohio waiver. Through the MyCare Ohio waiver, Molina MyCare Ohio Medicaid members will have access to expanded waiver services.

As a Molina MyCare Ohio Medicaid member, your care manager coordinates and authorizes services to meet your needs. They will plan waiver services based on medical necessity.

You can stay with your current providers on the MyCare Ohio waiver. The transition period allows for members to continue receiving services from their current waiver providers. The transition period is between 90 and 365 days, depending on the service. After the transition period, your provider must join the Molina MyCare Ohio Medicaid provider network to serve you. To learn more you can read your Member Handbook.

Molina MyCare Ohio Medicaid will keep your services and providers the same. Changes will not occur unless:

  • There is a serious change in your condition, housing, or caregiver status; or
  • You want to direct your own services through the Choices Waiver Program; or
  • The transition period ends after 365 days from the time you enroll in your Molina Dual Options plan

Once enrolled in MyCare Ohio Waiver, the following Waiver services are available, as needed for your needs:

Self-Directed providers may not work more than 40 hours per week for any member who employs the provider. A provider can work more than 40 hours per week in an emergency if another provider is not able to provide the service. Your care coordinator must approve the provider to work more than 40 hours for the week.

Patient Liability
Because you are covered by Medicaid, you usually pay nothing for covered services. However, you may have to pay a “patient liability.” Patient liability is a cost you may have to pay for some long-term care services. Learn more.
